What a ride Rory McIlroy took us all on during the 90th Masters. After Friday, it looked like he might win by 10. But, of course, it’s never that easy with the Northern Irishman—at least not anymore.
However, when it was all said and done, he was in Butler Cabin all alone, once again receiving the Green Jacket from Fred Ridley.
Since everyone is still thinking about the Masters—at least I am—let’s take a few minutes to revisit some of McIlroy’s best shots from the year’s first major championship.

Friday’s Chip-In Birdie on No. 17
His second round was bonkers, with highlights all over the place. But his chip-in birdie on 17 sent shockwaves through both Augusta National and social media. We should have known he was going to win after he did this.
Saturday’s Approach into the 15th
When he hit this shot, I stood up off the couch. It was a near carbon copy of his shot from last year, and settled things down after a tough day. But this shot kept him near the top of the leaderboard after losing his six-shot lead.
Sunday’s Birdie Putt on Three
After a few short birdie misses on the first two holes, this putt got him on the board and once again tied with Cameron Young. I understand he immediately made double on four, but the point stands.

Sunday’s Tee Shot on 12
This is the shot that won him the tournament. Seemingly everyone else in the field—outside of Young—bailed way left. McIlroy stood on the box of one of the most devilish par 3s in the world and hit the shot. Big stones.
Sunday’s Putt from Beyond 16 Green
This putt sealed the deal. He reached back in his memory bank to Tiger’s chip in 2006 and played the perfect putt into the slope. Having a tap-in par after his tee shot was the exclamation point he needed.
The Winning Moment
I had to include the winning putt. After this, he was a two-time Masters champion.
