Is the Scottish Open and The Open the Best Two-Week Stretch in Golf?

It's tough to beat the Scottish Open and The Open in back-to-back weeks—but is it the best fortnight stretch in golf?

I’ve felt this way for years, and I even wrote it earlier this week: the Genesis Scottish Open and The Open is easily one of the best two-week stretches in golf. Early mornings, pots of coffee, and links golf. I mean, come on!

But it also got me thinking—what are the best fortnights on the PGA TOUR schedule?

And before we get into the list, I wanted to touch on an honorable mention. It felt wrong not to have the Masters somewhere on here, but the Houston Open doesn't do it enough for me, and the RBC Heritage suffers so much from the Augusta hangover (despite Harbour Town rocking).

The Best Two-Week Stretches on the PGA TOUR

4. Arnold Palmer Invitational & THE PLAYERS

I went to school in Tampa, so I’ve been to the API more than a handful of times. Sure, Bay Hill might not be the greatest course in the world, but the vibes on property are unbelievable. It’s a week to honor the King—and who would complain about drinking Arnold Palmers all day? And then you follow it up with the TOUR’s crown jewel? Yeah, that’ll do.

3. AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am & The Genesis Invitational

This one is pretty simple. Back-to-back weeks we get to watch the best players in the world tackle Pebble Beach and Riviera. What more do I have to say?

2. U.S. Open & the Travelers Championship

Two men and caddie walk on a golf course towards a distant clubhouse.

As a New Englander, I might be a little biased toward the Travelers. But people can complain about the golf course all they want, because in the end, this tournament delivers every single year. And the U.S. Open is the U.S. Open. I don’t think I have to elaborate too much on that.

I said it earlier, but I’ll say it again: Links golf, a few cups of coffee, and the best links courses in the world. And sure, like the API and the Travelers, people love to complain about the Renaissance Club. But I don’t care—it’s pro golf across the pond!
