Charley Hull Lights Up London With a Course Record
The World No. 6 shoots an 11-under par 62 during the second round of the PIF London Championship.
Charley Hull is making headlines once again, but this time, it's for something that happened with a golf club in her hand.
We're just a few days removed from the AIG Women's Open, and Hull has decided she'd prefer us to marvel at the golf and not her pranks. The innocent "bit of banter" between the World No. 6 and her caddie Adam sent Golf Twitter into a tizzy last week, but the pair are better than ever—and Friday's round at the PIF London Championship was pretty good evidence of that.
Hull fired a course-record 62 at the Centurion Club to rocket up the leaderboard and remind everyone that, when she's on, very few players can match her combination of power, pace and pure Charley-ness.
Following an opening-round 74 in difficult windy conditions, Hull responded with a statement round Friday. She piled up nine birdies after an eagle on the first hole, taking advantage of improved conditions to set a new course record and tie the LET scoring record!
And while there's plenty of golf left to play in London, Hull already has another reason to feel good about her summer.
Her season-long Solheim Cup points haul has officially put her in position to secure her spot on Team Europe, and she'll head to Amsterdam to head up captain Anna Nordqvist's team as one of the more veteran players.
A course record in London, a Solheim Cup ticket punched and, presumably, a few more questionable jokes incoming...we can always count on Charley to deliver the fun.
