Bryson DeChambeau Doesn’t Sound Set on PGA TOUR Return…Yet

Thanks to the “Returning Members Program,” Bryson DeChambeau is one of four players eligible to come back to the PGA TOUR. Brooks Koepka, a member of that group, has already made his choice. DeChambeau, however, doesn’t sound ready…yet.

The 2024 U.S. Open champion spoke with Today’s Golfer at a LIV Golf event recently and said, “Hopefully, I’m back next year.” But it sounds like a lot has to happen between now and the end of LIV’s season to make that happen.

“I’ve got a contract this year, and that’s just going to be an ever-evolving conversation,” DeChambeau told TG. "Hopefully, I’m back next year. I’m excited for the potential of LIV. It just has to make sense for both sides, and we’ll move forward in a cool direction if that’s the case. I certainly don’t want to let [my Crushers GC teammates] down.

“I have no idea what’s going to happen in a year, but what I can tell you is that we’ll do everything possible to make it make sense for both sides.”

With the RMP in place and LIV’s continued failure to bring in more stars, DeChambeau has all the leverage until the TOUR’s Feb. 2 deadline to take advantage of the new program. LIV’s new season begins two days later in Saudi Arabia.

As for Koepka’s departure, DeChambeau was surprised the five-time major champion was “willing to give that much back.” Of course, he’s referring to the $5 million charitable donation, the inaccess to the Player Equity Program for five years, and no payment from the FedExCup bonus pool in 2026.

The other two players eligible for the RMP are Jon Rahm and Cameron Smith. We’ll learn about their future in the coming weeks.
