This week the PGA TOUR is headed to Quail Hollow for the PGA Championship, where the defending champion is Xander Schauffele. But before we get into the second men’s major of the year, we need to take a look back at some other big events from this past week in golf, including the PGA Tour’s doubleheader in Philadelphia and Myrtle Beach.

In Partnership with Srixon
With two PGA TOUR events on the schedule this week, thanks the the Truist being a signature event, it created the opportunity for an equipment manufacturer to double dip in the win column, and it was Srixon that did just that.
First it was Sepp Straka at the Truist beating Shane Lowry by two shots, and then over at the Myrtle Beach Classic Ryan Fox had to go one extra playoff hole against Mackenzie Hughes and Harry Higgs after Hughes made a bogey on the 72nd hole to cause the playoff during regulation. It was with the help of one of his Cleveland wedges that Fox chipped in from just off the green to make birdie and seal the deal.
Beyond both using Cleveland wedges, Srixon balls, and Srixon irons, both Straka and Fox play combo sets of the ZXi series split between the 5 and 6 irons (4 & 5i ZX5 and 6-9i ZXi7). This seems to be popular with Srixon staffers since both Lucas Glover and Shane Lowry (who also finished second this week) play the same set makeup.
The latest Srixon ball speed and distance technologies give the ZXi5 Irons unprecedented feel, speed, and power on every shot.

Combo sets with more built-it technology in the longer irons help said irons generate more ball speed without reducing launch angle and peak height. In the Case of the ZXi5 irons, they utilize a stronger and more (for lack of a better term) springy steel on the face to help produce extra launch and not sacrifice feel.
Considering Sepp finished in the top 10 in Strokes gained approaching green, and Ryan was 16th in greens in regulation (full shotlink data to calculate strokes gain unavailable) it's safe to say their irons played an important role in their results this week.
With the PGA Championship this week in Charlotte NC, at Quail Hollow, the OEMs all pulling out the stops to show off what there designers have been cooking up and TaylorMade has something pretty cool in honor of the event.
The details include; colors to celebrate the PGA, crowns as a nod to the Queen City, embroidered hornets as a wink to the local NBA team, checkered interior liners as wave to Charlotte being the home to the NASCAR Hall of Fame, and finally feathers to signify the host course.
The bag is on sale now for $600
Callaway is also getting in on the PGA Championship action with Queen City-themed Chrome Tour balls featuring crowns and Hornets.

Rory Pro Rollback
The 2025 Masters Champ Rory McIlroy once again went on the record this week in favor of a golf ball/equipment rollback when talking about the Philadelphia Cricket Club.
This was after talking about strategy leading up the the event where Rory said he would hit a lot of drivers:
Yeah, you can send it. Every bunker seems to be about 300 to 310 to carry, which is thankfully fine," McIlroy said of Philly Cricket's Wissahickon Course. "There's one bunker on 9 that's 331, but it's down like 10, so it's like 320 equivalent. That's the longest one to try to get over. In good conditions I can, if it's calm or a little bit of help. Yeah, it's basically open season.
(Gives me the chase to share one of my favourite dumb GIFs)
And with that, lets send it to Quail Hollow for the PGA Championship!
