Srixon Brings ZXi-RKT Drivers At The ISCO Championship

New gear season never truly stops, and just two weeks at the Travelers Championship, Srixon's ZXI-RKT line of drivers made their debut out on the PGA TOUR. Several golfers put one of the drivers into play, including Hideki Matsuyama, and then this past week at the John Deere Classic, Lucas Glover also had one in play, where he ended up finishing in a tie for third.

Now this week in Kentucky, Srixon has two more clubs ready for their staffers with the Tour launch of the ZXi-RKT fairway woods and hybrids.

What is ZXi-RKT?

Beyond what we have for pictures, Srixon has been quiet on the tech details of their latest line of drivers and fairway woods, but that just means I get the opportunity to make some good guesses about what's going on. The most noticeable detail is the named "RKT Face" which is clearly alluding to some sort of new face technology or material to help increase face flex / ball speed... so the ball can RKT off the face (sorry, it was just right there for the taking).

Unlike the drivers which have multiple model offerings, the fairway wood and hybrid appear to just be one core model, with the fairway wood having lofts of 13.5°, 15°, 18°, and 21°, while the hybrids goes from a 2-iron down to a 6-iron.

It's not likely we're going to see and 6-iron hybrids out on the PGA Tour, but considering Srixon's large LPGA Tour presence, they could be just as big of a hit out there as their irons, plus Cleveland wedges.

Now, we get do to the most boring part, and that is wait until we get more information to share about the entire Srixon ZXi-RKT line and what a suspected retail release could look like.
