PING Just Dropped A Hint That New Gear Is On the Way

As the summer golf season rolls on, even as the days get shorter, there are inevitabilities that come with the eventual arrival of fall. For golf gear nerds who are clamoring for what's next from the big equipment manufacturers, a price drop means something is on the horizon, and for PING G440 fans, it also means now is a great time to snag some amazing gear at amazing prices.

PING G440 Tech Refresher

More carbon

New for the Ping G440 line of driver and fairway woods is the adoption of Carbon fly wrap throughout the entire series. Whereas it was only previously used in the LST and Max 10K driver options, Ping is bringing this carbon composite technology to the full line of drivers to help make them more forgiving across the board.

Free hosel design

If there is one design tradeoff with adjustable hosels, it's that the housing within the heads needs to be reinforced with enough material (and mass) to keep everything secure and structurally sound. With this new free hosel design, Ping engineers have found a way to reduce the amount of material around the hosel while maintaining strength. This frees up more mass to boost MOI and also allows for more face flex on heel shots to further increase ball speeds.

Deeper faces

One of the biggest design changes to the G440 fairway woods is a deeper face through the models. This helps to generate more ball speed higher and lower on the faces and also provides greater confidence, especially for players that use them off a tee.

PurFlex Cavity Badge

A key contributor to more distance with the G440 irons if the newest configuration of the PurFlex cavity badge. The molded 4-piece badge is softer and more flexible than previous generations to help support the thin face for added ball speed and improved feel.

Driver & Fairway Wood Models

G440 Max

The Ping Max models are designed to fit the majority of golfers and are the most neutrally biased. The G440 Max driver is the most forgiving driver in the G440 line (Ping's most forgiving driver overall is still the G430 Max 10K), and the fairway woods are offered in the most loft options from 3-wood all the way down to 9-wood.

G440 LST

Designed with fast swing speed players in mind, the new LST driver offers a refined shape and a neutral to fade bias. The fairway woods are Pings most advanced to date, and feature a titanium face, body, and tungsten sole plate to push the center of gravity lower and closer to the face to lower spin (LST stands for Low Spin Technology after all). With the target golfer having a higher swing speed, these fairway woods are only offered in 3 and 5-wood lofts.

G440 SFT

Both the driver and fairway woods in the SFT models offer a larger and more draw-biased profile to help correct ball flight and inspire confidence. The driver has a draw and draw+ setting to offer up to 20 yards of additional draw bias, while the fairway woods have slightly more loft to encourage straighter-flying shots too.

Can't Forget The Hybrids

Unlike the drivers and fairway woods, the Ping G440 hybrids and irons only come in one core option, but that doesn’t mean they lack design features.

At the core of the hybrids are all of the same technologies as the MAX fairway woods including free hosel design and carbon fly wrap. What makes the hybrids unique is that they have been individually tuned by loft to help golfers in the target demographic properly gap their sets. For example, the golfer using a 17-degree 2-hybrid isn’t the same golfer that will fit into the 34-degree 7-hybrid so each loft model has modified internal weighting to create ideal launch conditions.
