Chris Gotterup's Win Extends These Gear Streaks

The slogan goes "Nothing Runs Like a Deere", well, in 2026, nobody wins individual events like Chris Gotterup, because he is the first man on Tour this year to get to three official wins—and is getting hot just in time to defend his title next week at the Scottish Open.

For those ready with a "well actually," yes I'm aware, Matt Fitzpatrick has won three times this year, but one was the team event with his brother, and didn't count for OWGR.

Now, as far as the gear, with the win this week at TPC Deere Run (Silvis, IL.) Chris helped to keep some winning gear on a winning track while also helping to bring one of the PGA TOUR's longest win streaks to an end.

Chris' win with the G440 LST is the second win in a row for the popular Ping driver, after Hovland's win last week at the Travelers. It's also another win for a Project X driver shaft, because Wyndham Clark used the new Titan to secure his U.S. Open victory at Shinnecock - Gotterup used a Project X HZRDUS Smoke Grey, something not for the faint of heart or swing speed.

Other hot streaks include a win for a TaylorMade fairway wood, plus a mini driver. The mini driver makes a ton of sense for a player with Chris' level of speed because he's not often going to have anything longer than his 7-wood into a par-5, and it offers a great secondary option off the tee when the driver is too much.

As we work our way through his bag, the other clubs that stand out are the irons, because few players on tour use Bridgestone irons, but it's hard to argue with the results Chris has found on the course this year.

Don't be surprised if you havent seen many sets of these classic looking blades in golf shops since they specialize in selling their irons through select custom fitting shops in the United States.

Of course this also marks ANOTHER win for the TaylorMade Spider, and speaking of Bridgestone from before, since Chris uses a Tour B-X, Titleist's 11 week (ball) win streak has come to an end.

Finally, we can't talk about Chris' clubs without talking about his wedges, TaylorMade MG5s.

It's no secret that Titleist and Vokey dominate the wedge count on the PGA TOUR and beyond, so having a non-contracted players using a full bag of TaylorMade wedges is real news here. It shows his trust in the product and their ability to offer enough grind options to fit his game.

And one more thing, I think a big part of this stems from TaylorMade and other equipment companies putting more effort into up and coming college players since those players are more likely to trust those clubs and continue to use them when they turn pro.
