The Iron Shaft Change That’s Paying Off For Min Woo Lee In Atlanta
A last-minute testing session helped MWL shoot a first-round 62 at the TOUR Championship in Atlanta.
At the TOUR Championship on Thursday, Min Woo Lee shot a first-round 8-under-par 62 to lead by 2 shots over several players, including Collin Morikawa and Chris Gotterup.
But so much of his success could be tied to a decision he made earlier in the week when he went through a blind iron testing process in hopes of finding success with his ball striking.
It appears that the testing and switch paid off because he hit 16/18 greens during round one and gained 1.318 strokes approaching the greens. It also helped that he gained 2.517 shots on the green.
