In Defense Of Loud Golf Speakers (Especially Ones With GPS)
Sure, the purists might not love them, but this loud speaker with a built-in GPS has a pretty compelling case for making it into your golf bag.
Golfers love to make up fake reasons to argue. Years ago, it was hoodies. Then discourse went all in on non-traditional golf clothing, then pushcarts, and now, upside-down writing hats—which to be fair, I think are really stupid.
But if there is one thing I will endlessly defend, it's music on the golf course. Before you start yelling and I have to turn up the volume on my speaker to drown you out, I do agree that there is a right (and an inherently wrong) time and place for music to be played on the golf course. But at its core, music just fits with golf.
I bring this up because I recently got my hands on a Mileseey Golf GeneSonic Pro Speaker, and when I first shared about just how loud it was, I got blown up in the comments about how it's a "bad" thing for golf.
If you've got the space and the audience, a loud speaker can always be played at a quieter volume, right?
If you've got the space and the audience, a loud speaker can always be played at a quieter volume, right? A capable speaker does not mean it can only be played at full volume, that's the point.
Plus, you don't always need a golf course. You can throw the same speaker in your backyard and blast "Pink Pony Club" by the pool with your kids.
But when you are on the course, I should mention that the GeneSonic Pro is more than just a speaker. It's also a full GPS unit that requires zero subscription to use.

Oh, and unlike other speaker + GPS combos, the Mileseey Golf GeneSonic Pro's GPS unit fully detaches from the speaker. So if you're playing somewhere that's cart path only, the speaker can keep pumping in the cart while you walk to your ball and get the exact distance to your target.
The detachable GPS unit can also control the speaker while apart from the unit, which is a major bonus in my book.

Now, I'm not saying that a 6 A.M. tee time needs a workout remix of Taylor Swift's "Ophelia" to kick-start the round, but I will say that on those nice sunny afternoons with your friends out on the course, hanging out in a cart and having a playlist roll through some hits is a pretty nice way to spend some time.
And if you happen to get your yardages from the same piece of tech pumping the tunes, I think that's a pretty great combo, too.
