Golf clubs are made of three components: a head, a shaft, and a grip. Of those components, golf shafts and their effectiveness in changing ball flight are among the most highly debated topics in golf.
We could mostly blame this lack of understanding and oversimplification on how shafts are labeled and marketed as blanket fixes, when in reality, they are best understood as fine-tuning devices to help golfers deliver the head in the most effective way possible.

Can the right shaft with the right head generate better results for a golfer? It 100 percent can, in the same way the wrong shaft with the right head can prevent a golfer from delivering the club effectively into impact.
We covered this exact topic on this week's Gear Smart Podcast, thanks to a write-in question from a listener who was looking to help solve their ball flight curving issue, and to be blunt, I wasn't pulling any punches when it comes to explaining how a golf shaft can fix or not fix your swing.
