The FedEx Cup Winner Will Likely Have One Of These In The Bag

Owning a club category on the PGA Tour is hard, whether it be drivers, irons, wedges, or putters; being the outright leader takes an acute focus on performance. And this week at the Tour Championship, scanning the bags of those atop the leaderboard tells us that when it comes to fairway woods, TaylorMade is a cut above the rest.

At the conclusion of the third round at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, the top-6 players on the leaderboard have at least one TaylorMade fairway wood in play. This includes the most recent Qi4D, mini drivers, Qi35s, and Qi10s - the fairway wood that swept the men's majors last year, plus the Stealth 2.

When you go further down the leadrboard the numbers continue to rack up with 7 of the top 8 and 9 of the top 12 also using at least one TaylorMade model.

What makes this interesting is that many of these fairway woods are in the bags of players not contracted to play TaylorMade, including Viktor Hovland, Adam Scott, and Russell Henley who recently put a Qi4d 3-wood and 7-wood on the bag.

Whats even more interesting is this is not a new trend because 8 of the last 9 Tour Champions have had at least one TaylorMade fairway wood in the bag, including the last 4 straight. And there is a good chance someone this year will take it to 5!

Adam Scott: BRNR Mini (13.5) & Qi10 5-wood

Ludvig Aberg: Stealth 2 3-wood & 7-wood

Scottie Scheffler: Qi10 3-wood & Qi4D 7-wood

Chris Gotterup: BRNR Mini (13.5) & Qi4D 7-wood

Rory Mcllroy: Qi10 3-wood & Qi10 5-wood

Russell Henley: Qi4D 3-wood & Qi4D 7-wood

Jacob Bridgeman: Qi4D 3-wood & Qi4D 9-wood
