You Asked, Callaway Delivered: The Apex MB Tour Raw Irons Are Here

Every once in a while, a product comes out that really gets the gear nerds going. In most cases, it's some sort of custom-designed putter or fairway wood for players on the PGA Tour. In rare cases, it's irons. The only thing is, unless you play on Tour or happen to really have the most inside of insider access, actually getting your hands on any of this stuff is basically impossible.

But Callaway is making the impossible possible with the limited release of the Apex MB Tour Raw irons, the same ones used by Min Woo Lee, Nicolai Hojgaard, Stefano Mazzoli, and even non-Callaway staffer Adam Scott.

With such an extensive consumer iron lineup, it's fair to wonder why Callaway would go to such lengths to redevelop their top-end tour blade, but when asked about releasing it to the public, Jacob Davidson, VP of Global Product Strategy had this to say.

I'll break it to you quick: the Apex MB is as pure a blade as you're going to find so there isn't any internal tech you have to worry about. Instead, it all comes down to fit, finish, and feel.

Speaking of feel, the irons are one-piece forged to deliver the utmost in pure feedback and control, and come unchromed to expose the raw carbon steel they're forged from. This means that over time they will naturally patina, resulting in each set having a little life of it's own.

What truly stands out is Callaway Tour Tri-Sole design that features prominent leading and trailing edge relief to encourage the club to move quickly and precisely through the turf. This is especially helpful since the Apex MB comes with a slightly wider sole to help position the center of gravity, while the sole design help it play effectively thinner.
