The Best Timeless Gifts For Golfers

If you are gifting a golfer this holiday season, why not make it something that will last a lifetime, rather than a dozen golf balls that might only last a few rounds? I mean, golf balls are great, but let's be real, they’re a commodity.

To me, a timeless gift represents something that can be used forever, doesn't need a battery (we’ll see how well I can hold myself to that one), and can have more meaning and use beyond the simple function that it delivers. They can be tied to people, places, or moments that represent something special for the recipient, and with that in mind, here are my top timeless gift ideas.

Annual Masters Watch

Ok, so I already broke my own rule about batteries since these are quartz watches, but when it comes to cool timepieces, and ones that won’t break the bank, a Masters watch can be a great gift. The Masters has been issuing watches for each tournament since the early 2000s, and between the standard models and the more limited numbered options, they can be found with a little hunting.

Titleist Tour Style Shag Bag

Sure, you could snag a cheap mesh bag, or one of those extending ones with the tube, but durability and ease of storage aren't quite top of mind with either of those designs.

This is where the Titleist shag bag comes in.

It's classically modeled after the Titleist staff bag and constructed to last—heck, I've seen vintage ones from the 1970s that still show a lot of life, and the newest version is no exception. So if you've got a regular practicer in your life, this is the perfect gift that can be used season after season.

Jones Herritage Duffel

I’ll admit that it wasn't that long ago that I never quite concerned myself with luggage - I mean, a bag or backpack can work just fine, right?

But the more I traveled, even just on day trips to play golf, the more I realized that having a proper duffel bag goes a long way - not just for actual function, but to have something that I felt better represented me.

The Jones Duffel has all kinds of room, and a pocket design that makes it easy to carry an extra pair of shoes or sandals for after your round. Plus, the craftsmanship means that whether you’re headed to the course or just a weekend away, you'll be ready for the destination.

Seamus Golf Covers

Sure, stock OEM covers are cool, but you know what’s even cooler? Headcovers that don’t look like a giant billboard for your latest club purchase.

This is why I love Seamus headcovers (plus a lot of their other accessories). You can find everything from family tartan designs to ones that match your favorite pet. They even have a Big Lewbowski one!

Books

Since I’m a massive golf club nerd, it should be no surprise that my favourite two golf books revolve around golf clubs.

At the top of my reding list is “And The Putter Went PING” - a complete history of Ping golf, along with its founder Karsten Solheim and his family. Not only are you bound to learn something about the GE engineer turned golf club designer, but it’s also a great reference if you’re on the hunt for a classic Ping club.

My other favorite is “The Golf Club: 400 Years of the Good, the Beautiful & the Creative” Its not only filled with some of the most beautiful photography or unusual club designs you’ll ever see, but it also shows that some of golfs most modern designs have historial roots, like insert putters, and moveable weights.

Wall Art

Last but not least, what’s more timeless than art?

Two of my favorites for creating beautiful wall decor are Good Boy Originals by AJ Voelpel and golf course photography by The Fired Egg Golf. Good Boy prints offer detailed photography, ranging from golf pencils to matchbooks, and can also provide commissioned work. As for The Fried Egg, they have high-definition drone photography from many of the top golf courses from all over the world, and some hidden gems along the way.
